A Wonders Starts From Small Things
"Success is the accumulation of small businesses, which do repeatedly."
- Robert Collier -
Do you have important targets you want to achieve in your life where to start you just worked hard? Or targets that you have tried several times to reach it but always fails. To the extent that you think, there are areas in your life that you can not seem to succeed.
You may be a great success in your career, but you have difficulty to be able to exercise regularly at least twice a week. Or you get the smooth opening a business this year but your diet program always fail.
The problem may be that you try to change too quickly or too far. I am here going to try to share the experience how to do a permanent change. This process obviously takes time. I can not give you a way how to make changes in the 'overnight' because I have never done it and I thought it was not possible.
Usually people have a commitment at the end of each year to make the changes in the new year. If you're like most people want to make those changes in an instant, most likely you will fail.
Try to remember back now, is there any of your targets unmet this year
I will help remind. Maybe you want to:
- Lose weight by 20 kg
- Quit smoking
- Reduce caffeine
- Jogging around the complex every morning
- Get up at 5 am every day
- Start an online business pioneer
- ... .. (Please fill in yourself)
All these are important goals in your life and need a great effort to change it. It would be better if you take steps more patterned and controllable although takes longer. Why? Because once you change, you will be more permanent than you do in a hurry.
Identification of your current position
Before starting a change, you need to know your current position is where, for example: how much weight you are now, how many stem / packs you smoke every day, how often do you drink coffee, how many times you exercise in a month, and so on.
Take small steps to achieve
Maybe there will be a huge gap between your current position with what you want to accomplish, and you seem to feel that they have the strength, passion or discipline to achieve it.
As I mentioned in my previous article: How to Stay Motivated To Solve What Have You Start: If you only think about how to achieve your goals quickly, there will likely experience frustration / stress.
Break down your target (break down) into small activities, for example: if you want to lose weight by 20 kilograms, divide the target into ½ kg per week. Yes, you will spend 40 weeks to lose weight, but this time you will surely pass.
Do not underestimate your ability to accomplish something by doing little things. Instead you try to reach the target quickly, by doing things that are 'radical', say only eat one day or taking laxatives, but after 1-2 weeks you gave up because they could not. You mean just a waste of your precious time and this fact can actually hurt you: you might think "am I right, I can not succeed", "do not you, I could not be consistent and disciplined.", Etc.
Okay, enough theory, now I will give you some practical examples:
Step 1)
Target: stop consuming caffeine
Current Position: drinking 3 cups of coffee a day
Step: reduce drinking coffee became once a day for the first week (a total of seven glasses a week), Week 2 total 6 cups a week, week 3 total 5 cups a week and so on.
Total time required: 8 weeks
Step 2)
Target: up at 5 am every day
Current Position: wake up at 7 am
Steps: plug your alarm 15 minutes earlier each one week - do not directly rewind to 2 hours! Trust me you will suffer.
Total time required: 8 weeks
Step 3)
Target: create a 100 page ebook
Current Position: 0 pages
Step: every day you write one page, except Saturday and Sunday you write two pages. So during the week you wrote as many as 9 pages.
Total time required: 11 weeks
You can see that the targets above becomes plausible and highly likely to be reached with smaller activities, including targets that you have ever tried to grab it but failed. Whatever you want, you can achieve it as long as you do not want instant results. There is no instant way to achieve success.
Hopefully this article useful to you. Good luck.
